Water in iPhone

iPhone (unlike other cell phones) is not intended to swim in water. If your iPhone:

  • Fell down the toilet
  • Fell down a swimming pool
  • Got wet under some heavy rain
  • Got water into it in any original way

There’s a solution.

First of all you should know that Apple has no warranty over wet iPhone, furthermore most private labs will not accept your iPhone.

How do they know your iPhone got wet? They do. Even without you telling them they will know within a second of looking at your iPhone.

iPhones have built in water sensors which turns into a different color when coming in touch with water (white to red) on the following image you can see exactly how that indicator looks like, you may have never known what is it for but it’s there.

So what you should do in case your iPhone got water into it:

Follow these step by step instructions:

1. Act fast

2. Dry your iPhone

3. Take out the Sim card out of your iPhone using a pin. (the sim is located on the top of the iPhone and can be pulled out using the pin in the tiny hole).

4. Take a sealed bag full of rice (no i’m not joking) and place your iphone in it. Make sure it’s fully sealed.

5. Let your iPhone dry for at least 48-96 hours.

6. Take the iPhone out of the bag.

7. Try to turn your iPhone on. If it turns on – perfect – enter your sim and try to use it.

8. It doesn’t turn on – you will need to replace your iPhone battery – Click Here if you have first generation (2g) iPhone. OR click here if you have 3g or 3gs iPhone.

9. If it turns on but the touch screen is not fully usable (parts of the screen are not working or you see water) you will need to replace your screen.  Click Here if You Have 2g iPhone. OR click here if you have 3g or 3gs iPhone.

10. In any case don’t panic, everything is fixable and it will cost you a lot less than buying a brand new iPhone.

Good luck.
